Tokenized Stock Transfers Skyrocket — $8.4B Surge in One Month

Tokenized stock transfers reached $8.41B, doubling over a month. Leading platforms like Figure drove significant growth.

Tokenized stock transfers surged to $8.41 billion over the past month, more than doubling in activity, according to data from RWA.xyz. In parallel, the distributed value climbed 43% to $2.16 billion, and the number of holders rose 17% to over 409,000. Why the spike? Several leading tokenization platforms propelled this growth significantly.

Figure's distributed value rocketed 935%, with Securitize seeing a 332% rise and xStocks jumping about 62%. Despite these impressive gains, Ondo held its ground as the largest platform by distributed value, boasting approximately $846 million. Close behind, xStocks managed $708 million, followed by Securitize with $306 million, and Figure reaching $239 million, per the data.

Tokenized equities are outpacing other real-world assets (RWA), where US Treasurys, the sector's largest asset class, remained flat. The broader tokenized market itself grew modestly by around 4%, hitting $33.5 billion. This paints a picture of enthusiastic engagement with tokenized stocks compared to other asset classes.

The momentum isn't confined to crypto exchanges. Securitize made waves by becoming the first newly public company to issue tokenized shares on the Solana and Avalanche blockchains as it listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Traditional finance titans are not far behind; the DTCC is set to launch a tokenized securities service in October, eyeing regulatory approval under a three-year pilot.

Intercontinental Exchange's CEO, Jeffrey Sprecher, has urged regulators to allow traditional exchanges to compete with crypto-native platforms by offering 24/7 onchain perpetual futures. This reflects a broader trend of legacy finance players seeking to integrate blockchain technology into their operations. The competitive landscape is shifting, with collaborations like Nasdaq's partnership with Kraken to develop tech linking traditional equities with blockchain networks.

Observing this acceleration, one might wonder if we're witnessing the early stages of a major evolution in financial markets. As the race to tokenize continues, the implications could be profound, altering how we perceive and engage with stock exchanges.
